The Brick asks vendors in their community to participate in the May Event.

“We are absolutely jazzed about being asked to participate in The Brick’s May Tent Event,” says Jeff Knight President of SpaBerry. We are going to have special packages, special pricing and special model offerings for the Brick’s customers throughout the event.

“The Brick is Canada’s largest volume retailer of home furnishings, bedding, appliances, televisions, video recorders and stereo equipment under one roof, and their May Tent Event is one of the largest events they put on!” says Knight. We will have two SpaBerry units inside the Brick with another two placed right outside the entrance.

This event will bring in 13,000+ customers into the store in one month as The Brick will announce the event through Television, Flyer-Mail outs, and telemarketing! Kidsport and SpaBerry believe that no kid should be left on the sideline. “Every kid should get a chance to play their favorite sport” says Jeff Knight – President of SpaBerry.

We have donated a custom Flame – wrapped StrawBerry colored SpaBerry to be auctioned off March 5th at Retro’s Bowlarama! Celebrities from the NHL and CFL will be some of the many celebrities on hand to autograph the SpaBerry and make it truly a one of a kind auction item! The SpaBerry is currently on display at Lowes Home Improvement Stores’ Mackenzie Location and will be moved to the Calgary Home and Garden Show February 23-26 where it will be on display in the SpaBerry corporate sales Booth, and then back to Lowes for display prior to the auction night on March 5th at the Bowlarama!

Our goal is to display the SpaBerry to as many people as possible prior to the Kidsport event to raise awareness and raise as much money as possible for Kidsport says Knight. It is going to be a great night of fun and a great night to raise money for a great charity getting our kids involved in sports!

Former Calgary Flame Rhett (Retro) Warrener and KidSport Calgary are pleased to announce that Retro’s Bowlerama 2012 presented by Shaganappi Insurance Services/ the co-operators, on Monday March 5/12 at Century Bowling Centre is sold out. 27 participating teams of 5 players each, supplemented with a well known local athlete or media personality, will take to the lanes to have fun and raise money to help low income kids participate in organized sport.

Aside from registration fees, KidSport will be raising funds through a silent auction. Autographed sport jerseys from Jarome Iginla (Flames), Mike Green (Capitals), Kevin Koe (curling) and Calgary Stampeder players will be some of the interesting items along with loads of other sport memorabilia and collector items. The highlight of the silent auction is the Spaberry – a luxurious, two person eco-friendly spa that has been custom flame wrapped for this event. Every participating celebrity will sign the Spaberry to make it a one-of-a-kind item. It is presently on display and can be viewed until Monday March 5 at the Mackenzie location of Lowes Home Improvement Store.

Among the list of 30+ committed celebrities are such recognizable local sport heroes and media personalities as Mike Vernon, Craig Conroy, Tim Jackman, Joel Otto, Theo Fleury, Melissa Hollingsworth, Jesse Lumsden, Eric Francis, Charlie Simmer, and Tara Slone. Both the Calgary Stampeders and the Calgary Roughnecks will be well represented as well.

Retro’s Bowlerama was previously held annually between 2005-07 when Warrener was a top defencemen for the Calgary Flames and wanted to leverage his celebrity and affection for bowling to raise funds for KidSport. As he settles into a new career in sports media broadcasting with Sportsnet TV and Fan 960 radio, Rhett felt it was timely to resurrect the event and KidSport Calgary was pleased to be the charity partner once again.
